We live predominantly in the urgencies of the present and in projects for the future, sometimes utopian, sometimes apocalyptic. Cristina Hoffman's book succeeds, in this context, in tempting us towards a much healthier, more useful experience: the experience of memory. The reader is invited to remember a type of world, a human type, a model of life to which we must not only relate nostalgically, but also restoratively. The book is full of charm, but also of possible landmarks of a healthy inner revival. Reading the pages offered by the author will, I am sure, be a source of pleasure, reflection and hope.
