Project "ADVANCED APPLICATIONS OF NON-TERMAL PLASMA IN THE FIELD OF CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC HERITAGE: TREATMENT OF NATURAL POLYMERIC MATERIALS,"

The acronym SUSPLART (Sustainable low-temperature plasma technologies for cleaning historical and archaeological artefacts from natural polymers), was proposed and accepted in the Eureka 2016 competition and started in 2017.

The project aims to research the application of non-thermal (cold) plasma technology and natural treatment of polymeric materials in the field of cultural and artistic heritage.

The project is a partnership between:
- S.C. OSCAR PRINT SRL (SME, Romania Bucharest, project leader)
- S.C. CONREST EXPERT SRL (SME, Romania, Suceava),
- National Village Museum "Dimitrie Gusti",
- National Research and Development Institute for Textiles and Leather (INCDTP, Romania, Bucharest Branch of the Leather Footwear Research Institute ICPI),
- Bratislava University of Technology,
- Faculty of Chemistry, Kamea Electronics SRO, Slovakia.

The leader of the Romanian partnership is SC. OSCAR PRINT SRL.
Each partner is responsible for one of the project's research directions, as follows:

1.The National Research and Development Institute for Textiles and Leather (INCDTP, Romania, Bucharest - Branch of the ICPI Footwear Leather Research Institute) is undertaking research on the development of experimental cold plasma cleaning and functionalization models on various natural polymeric substrates (leather, parchment, etc.).
2. National Village Museum "Dimitrie Gusti" - contributes to the selection of case studies and materials to be subjected to cold plasma cleaning treatment. Produces conservation sheets for selected heritage objects and artefacts.
3. S.C. Conrest Expert SRL - selects and proposes materials to be subjected to cold plasma cleaning treatment (especially leather and wood). Produces conservation technique sheets for objects and artefacts from the selected heritage.
4. S.C. Oscar Print SRL - use and valorisation of collagenous materials for bookbinding and art books (leather, parchment).
5. Bratislava University of Technology, Faculty of Chemistry - conducts research in its own laboratory for heritage artefacts selected by partners in Romania.
6. S.C. Kamea Electronics SRO, Slovakia -
